Iraqi parliament cleared after bomb scare

An Iraqi security official says the parliament building was evacuated after a bomb-sniffing dog indicated the discovery of explosives, but no device was found. An Interior ministry official says the building was fully searched after the sniffer dog sat down, a signal that it detected explosives.

Saturday's parliament session was canceled. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to media.

In April 2007, a suicide bomber detonated an explosive belt in the parliament cafeteria, killing one lawmaker.
