Japanese cabinet minister sacked

Japan's Consumer Affairs Minister Mizuho Fukushima was on Friday sacked from the cabinet by Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, media reports said.

Japan's Consumer Affairs Minister Mizuho Fukushima was on Friday sacked from the cabinet by Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, media reports said.

Fukushima, who is also a leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), was sacked after he refused to sign the cabinet resolution on relocation of the US Futenma base, Xinhua reported citing a statement from state broadcaster NHK.

Futenma is a US Marines base located in Ginowan city on Okinawa island.
