Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet and director Sam Mendes are reportedly making efforts to save their troubled marriage.
According to close friends of the couple, the Titanic star and Mendes have retreated to their Gloucestershire manor house for the summer to rekindle "the spark" in their relationship, OK! magazine reported.
About four months ago it was announced that they were ending their marriage of seven years. The 34-year-old actress was said to be upset about a growing closeness between Mendes, 44, and actress Rebecca Hall, 27, the daughter of veteran theatredirector Sir Peter Hall.
It appears that the couple are not heading for the divorce courts just yet.
"Sam hasn't any film commitments at the moment so they are going to stay at the house with the children this summer and see if they can reignite their spark," said a close friend.
"Sam has always been able to walk away from girlfriends before but now there are children involved he wants to see if he can work it out with Kate," the friend added.
The couple have a six-year-old son, Joe, while Winslet has a daughter, Mia, nine, from her first marriage to assistant director Jim Threapleton.
