Landslides after heavy rain kill 20 in south China

The official Xinhua News Agency reported Wednesday the landslides in Guangxi region overnight caused 13 deaths in Rongxian county and seven in Cenxi county.

Landslides caused by heavy rain have killed at least 20 people in southern China.

The official Xinhua News Agency reported Wednesday the landslides in Guangxi region overnight caused 13 deaths in Rongxian county and seven in Cenxi county.

An official with the region's Land and Resources Administration told Xinhua that rescuers were looking for at least 27 people buried by the landslides.

Xinhua said more than 66,000 people have been evacuated from a seven-city area because of heavy rain that started Monday. The news agency also says two students are missing and about 700 others are stranded because of flooded schools in the city of Laibin.
