The arrest tok place after a couple reported seeing the man touching a young girl inappropriately at a hotel pool. Apparently, they were not aware that the girl was his daughter.
The man’s wife is Brazilian and thus the girl child has darker skin. His wife told the media if she believed any truth in the claim, she would not hesitate to support action against her husband, but she recalled that she had been present in the poll the whole time and saw nothing objectionable.
Under a new strict Brazilian law designed to combat child abuse, the man faces up to 8 to 15 years in prison. The man is jailed for about a week now. Another attempt fr release will be made on Tuesday.
