Manmohan Singh arrives in Washington for G-20 summit

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived in Washington to take part in a summit of the world's 20 biggest economies to consider ways of checking the global financial crisis.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived in Washington on Friday to take part in a summit of the world's 20 biggest economies to consider ways of checking the global financial crisis and prevent a future one.

Finance Minister P Chidambaram is accompanying the prime minister for the two-day summit of Group of Twenty (G20) advanced and emerging economies hosted US by President George W Bush.

Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Department of Economic Affairs Secretary Ashok Chawla have been here since Wednesday preparing the groundwork for the summit.
