The pop icon is famous for spending millions on plastic surgery of his face, but his fingers and nails appear to be in a terrible state.

The photographs of the 50-year-old star's hands, who stepped out wearing a surgical mask and black glasses last week, showed signs of ageing and a distinct lack of care.

"His hands looked very discoloured and skin looked like it was dangling from his fingers. His fingernails could only be described as a manicurist's worst nightmare," an onlooker told the paper.

There are reports that the star is suffering from a life threatening disease, a claim denied by his representatives.

Last month Ian Halperin, author of a Jackson biography had claimed the singer was suffering from potentially fatal lung disease.

"Jackson is in fine health, and finalising negotiations with a major entertainment company and television network for both a world tour and a series of specials and appearances" he had said.
