Hollywood loves political dramas and the next to get a biopic could be outgoing scretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton as a script focussing on her younger days features in the list of favourite future films.
Written by Young II Kim from South Korea and dubbed ‘Rodham’, the screenplay follows a 20-something Hillary.
The film focusses on Hillary when she is the youngest attorney on the House Judiciary Committee working to impeach President Richard Nixon while her boyfriend Bill Clinton is trying to launch his political career in Arkansas, the Politico reported.
“There’s this incredible irony that she worked on the impeachment process that was used against her husband,” Kim said while referring to Clinton’s impeachment scandal involving former White House intern Monica Lewinsky.
“But it’s also really a journey of a woman who was torn between her personal desires and her professional ambition — both literally pulled her thousands of miles apart, because Bill did not want to leave Arkansas, and she did not want to leave Washington DC.”
The script came fourth on Hollywood’s all-important Black List, an annual poll of nearly 300 film executives about their favourite scripts. Films that have made to the list include Oscar-winners The Social Network and The King’s Speech.
Kim, 39, said he got the idea after he saw a photo of Hillary in the Situation Room with President Barack Obama and others watching the raid to kill Osama bin Laden.
Kim left his job in venture capital post September 11, 2001 attacks to chase his dream of becoming a screenwriter.
