Nepal mulling security plan to check armed activities

Nepal is mulling a comprehensive security plan to check the activities of armed terror and criminal groups operating with political ambitions in the country, particularly in the Terai and the capital.

Nepal is mulling a comprehensive security plan to check the activities of armed terror and criminal groups operating with political ambitions in the country, particularly in the Terai and the capital.

Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Rakam Chemjong on Sunday said that the government will bring a security plan instrumental in controlling those criminal groups who have been unleashing terror with political cover up.

The government is considering plans to check rising criminal activities in the capital as well as the Terai.

Chemjong said the government has already started informal talks with armed groups having political aims to resolve the issue peacefully adding but the government will not spare any criminal group.

The criminal groups will be controlled by introducing special security package, he pointed out. The special security plan is at its final stage and will be implemented soon to controlled criminal activities, he said.

Minister Chemjong disclosed that the government has started dialogue with the ethnic Tamsaling Joint Struggle Committee and the government is scheduled to hold talks with the another ethnic group Tharuhat Struggle Committee and the Muslim Struggle Committee on their demands for more rights and representation.

The government is prepared to resolve all the issues through the peaceful means of dialogue, he said and asked all the groups including armed ones for dialogue.
