Yadav's proposed India visit was informally scheduled for the second week of February. President's press adviser Rajendra Dahal said that Yadav's visit to India has been put off for the time being.

The visit has been delayed taking into consideration the Manmohan's health condition, Dahal said.

The new date will be fixed in consultation with the Indian officials, according to Foreign Ministry sources. This will be the first ever foreign visit to India by the first president of Nepal.

The Indian President had extended invitation to the President of Nepal for an official visit to India.

Shortly after being elected to the post of President Yadav was invited by China for a visit on the occasion of the opening of the Beijing Olympics. He, however, declined the offer saying that he had important political engagements.
