Nobel prize won't change political system: China

China said today that the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to jailed dissident Liu Xiaobo, who co-authored a petition calling for bold reform, would not affect the country's political system.

China said on Tuesday that the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to jailed dissident Liu Xiaobo, who co-authored a petition calling for bold reform, would not affect the country's political system.

"Some politicians are trying to use this to attack China," foreign ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu told reporters.

"If some people try to change China's system in this way, they are making a big mistake."
