US President Barack Obama on Friday pledged to open a new era of equal partnership with the Americas as he addressed a summit in Trinidad.

US President Barack Obama on Friday pledged to open a new era of equal partnership with the Americas as he addressed a summit in Trinidad.
"I pledge to you that we seek an equal partnership," he said in remarks prepared for delivery to the Summit of the Americas.
"There is no senior partner and junior partner in our relations; there is simply engagement based upon mutual respect, common interests, and shared values," he said.
"So I am here to launch a new chapter of engagement that will be sustained throughout my administration."
