Announcing the arrest, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Pervez Rathor claimed in Lahore that the three were working for India's Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), the local Geo TV reported.

He claimed that the trio used to provide photographs of important places to the RAW, while some important buildings were on their target, the report said.

"They were also involved in a bomb blast in Lahore in 2006, in which 16 people were injured," Rathor was quoted by the channel as telling a press conference in Lahore.

The CCPO claimed that the three had visited India too.

Another channel Dawn News quoted Rathor as saying that the alleged terrorists were planning sectarian violence in Pakistan.

He was quoted as claiming that the three crossed the border seven times and "confessed" to documenting some important assets of the banned Jamaat-ud-Dawa, the front organisation of the Lashkar-e-Toiba blamed for the Mumbai attacks.
