Pakistan deports 219 Afghans for alleged illegal entry

Officer Mohammed Yaqoob said the Afghans were arrested over the past 20 days in Baluchistan province.

Police in Pakistan say they have deported 219 illegal immigrants from Afghanistan.

Officer Mohammed Yaqoob said the Afghans were arrested over the past 20 days in Baluchistan province. They were handed over to Afghan officials today at the Chaman border crossing.

Baluchistan shares a long border with southern Afghanistan and illegal travel along the frontier is common.
The Afghan government says it suspects that remnants of the Taliban militia are also in Baluchistan, but Pakistan denies that.
