The Chinese-built F-7 jet came down near an air force base outside Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province, Pakistan Air Force spokesman Sarfraz Ahmed said.

"An inquiry has been ordered into the crash," he said.

Pakistan has a large number of Chinese built fighters in its fleet, which also has French-built Mirages and US F-16 aircraft.
