Paris declines comment on Sarkozy's reported Lieberman attack

Nicolas Sarkozy's office on Tuesday declined to comment on media reports that the French president had called for Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman to be fired.

Nicolas Sarkozy's office on Tuesday declined to comment on media reports that the French president had called for Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman to be fired.

"No comment," was the terse reply from the Elysee palace when asked if it were true that Sarkozy urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week in Paris to get rid of the ultra-nationalist minister.

Lieberman's office said earlier Tuesday that "if this report is correct then this is an unacceptable interference in internal Israeli affairs".
