The Australian airline says the flight crew noticed a problem with the oil quantity in one of the A380's four engines. The crew shut down the engine and diverted the flight to Dubai on Friday.

None of the 258 passengers or 25 crew was hurt.

Engineers are inspecting the plane to see whether it can continue to London.

Exactly a year ago, another Qantas A380 had a midair engine explosion after takeoff from Singapore. Many A380s were grounded so a troubled engine part could be replaced.

Qantas spokeswoman Olivia Wirth said Friday the two incidents were unrelated.
