Resolution of J&K dispute will pave way for peace: Gilani

Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday said the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir problem between India and Pakistan will pave the way for peace and prosperity in South Asia.

Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday said the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir problem between India and Pakistan will pave the way for peace and prosperity in South Asia.

Gilani told Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider, the 'Prime Minister' of Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) that the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute "in accordance with the wishes of the people" could help efforts toward peace and economic prosperity in the region.

"Pakistan will continue extending its political, moral and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir," Gilani was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the PM office.

Gilani told Haider, who called on the prime minister at his official residence today, to focus his energies on the improvement of the living standard of the people by promoting good governance at every level, the statement said, adding that the Pakistani Prime Minister would soon visit PoK.
