Senators Charles Schumer, Claire McCaskill, Jon Tester, Bill Nelson and Diane Feinstein are taking part in the effort saying some schools are bogus, and are merely fronts for suspected criminals or terrorists once they receive the government-authorised learning visas.

Three suspected sham universities in the city have been shut down for their alleged involvement. They pointed out some of the men involved in the September 11 attacks arrived in the US on student visas.

This comes even as the fate of hundreds of Indian students of the sham Tri-Valley University, not implicated in the investigation of visa fraud by the closed school, is under "active discussion" by US authorities.
