Pope Benedict XVI on Thursday called on Catholics to stop infighting over the affair of Holocaust-denying Bishop Richard Williamson, in a letter to bishops published by the Vatican.
While admitting that he had made "mistakes" in his handling of the affair, in which he lifted the decades-old ex-communication of the ultra-conservative Briton, Benedict urged Catholics, quoting the Apostle Paul, not to "bite and devour one another."
