The quake struck at 6:40 am (1440 GMT), officials said, 275 kilometers (171 miles) north-northwest of Port Hardy, British Colombia and 624 kilometers (299 miles) north-northwest of Vancouver, the agency said. "But because it was too far off shore, it was not actually felt," said local broadcaster Global TV.
