The four-day festivities ended on Tuesday evening with staging of a play titled Characters of Tagore (Tagoreka Patraharu) by Sarwanam at the Army Auditorium here.

The celebrations started with Sangeetanjali, a musical evening that saw singers performing solo numbers, duets and chorus on Tagore’s immortal poems and songs like the hugely popular Ekla Chalo.

President Ram Baran Yadav inaugurated the event organised by Anandalok in association with the Indian Embassy and the BP Koirala India-Nepal Foundation on Saturday.

There was also group dance, recital of Tagore’s English poem Where the head is held high as well as a Rabindra Sangeet in Nepali titled Purana ti dinka Kura sung by Nupur Bhattacharya.

President Yadav released the re-published Nepali version of Geetanjali, translated 60 years ago by Khagendra Kumar Pradhananga. His son theatre artist Ashesh Malla recited excerpts.
