Two British soldiers have been killed in an explosion in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence said on Monday.

Both soldiers were from the Black Watch, Third Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

They were killed while on foot patrol north of Lashkar Gah District in Helmand Province.
The servicemen have not been named but their families have been informed.
The deaths bring to 210 the number of British service personnel killed in Afghanistan since conflict began in late 2001.
