There were five crew members onboard the helicopter that was returning from a search and rescue drill to the mountainous region of Miyun county, Xinhua reported.

One man was pulled out alive of the Miyun reservoir, and rescuers retrieved from the water the bodies of two crew members. A search is on for the two other crew members.

The Miyun reservoir is a major source of drinking water for Beijing residents, and water and environmental authorities were keeping a close watch over the water quality since the crash occurred.

Tests showed that no oil contamination was found on the surface of the water.
