Two brothers drowned during a boat race held to celebrate the bicentennial of Mexico's independence, officials said.

The accident occurred during an aquatic marathon in the Atoyac river along Atoyac de Alvarez city, 473 km south of Mexico City, officials of the public safety secretariat of Guerrero state said on Sunday.
