Umaru Yar'Adua took the oath of office as president of Nigeria on Tuesday after elections last month dubbed "not credible" by international observers.

The 56-year-old former state governor takes over from Olusegun Obasanjo, completing the first transfer of power from one civilian to another in Africa's most populous nation and top oil producer.
