Speaking to reporters at the UN headquarters in New York, Rice said the US is also working with both the countries to ensure there is no repeat of the Mumbai terrorist strikes.

"You know, what we are trying to do. The key here is that the parties need to focus on - and I think, we are focusing on both bringing the perpetrators to justice and prevention of any following on attacks," Rice said.

"We have been very clear in our views," she said.

Rice said both the countries are cooperating with the US. "We are continuing to cooperate (with) both India and Pakistan in that regard," Rice said.

Rice traveled to New Delhi and Islamabad early this month to defuse tension between the two countries in the wake of the Mumbai outrage.
