Since actor Ranbir Kapoor’s break up with Katrina Kaif, there has been speculation about his relationship status. A couple of days back, reports claimed that the actor went to London with his mother Neetu Kapoor, to meet a prospective match.
Recently, when we asked his uncle, actor Randhir Kapoor about the speculation around his marriage, he said: “Ranbir is having a terrific time with all the success and the money he’s got, and age being in his favour too. Why does he have to get married and spoil it all so soon? Shaadi ke liye bahut time hai abhi usko (He’s got enough time in hand to get married). Let him have a nice time right now,” says Randhir, when asked if the Kapoor family often talks about Ranbir’s marriage, adding that, “Anyway, how is his relationship status anybody’s concern or business?”
Randhir says that he shares a cordial bond with nephew Ranbir and he feels proud to see him grow on the career front. “At times, I envy him because I was nowhere at his age—with the kind of success and moolah that he’s got. He’s doing very well and I’m so proud. Little ups and downs and high and low tides are there in everyone’s career. This happens and it’s a passing phase, so that’s completely alright,” says the 70-year-old.
Ask him if he’s happy the way the younger Kapoors are taking forward the family’s legacy, Randhir sounds reassured and points out, “My two daughters [Karisma and Kareena] and [nephew] Ranbir are doing good job in films. They’re extremely successful.”
And do constant comparisons between Ranbir and his father and uncles bother him? “It’s okay to being compared and I don’t care, honestly. After all, there’s so much talent in the family that you’ll be left surprised every time. Our kids have not just surpassed us, but they’re doing very well for themselves,” he says.
