After Mani Ratnam’s film Raavan and the forthcoming Shah Rukh Khan starrer Ra.One comes another outing of the evil king from the Hindu epic Ramayana, this time as a comic book series which tells his side of the story.

Author Vijayendra Mohanty and artist Vivek Goel’s version, titled Ravanayan, highlights the antagonist’s point of view. “It fills in the gaps and shows how the same concepts of duty and responsibility, good and evil affect Ravana as well,” says Mohanty.

The self-published 10-issue series, which the duo says is in no way inspired by the recent films on the character, was released in Mumbai on Saturday and can be ordered online.
