One person died and five others were injured in an explosion at the grain market in Old Delhi’s Naya Bazar on Tuesday afternoon.

It is yet unknown what caused the blast, but some onlookers said they saw a man carrying a bag of fire crackers while smoking a beedi just before the incident.
Prima facie it looks like a firecracker explosion in a jute bag,” said Virendra Chahal, the joint commissioner of police, Northern Range, ANI reported.
Deputy commissioner of police (north), Madhur Verma, said the deceased was carrying firecrackers, and a packet of beedis were also found at the site.
The area was cordoned off and the police are collecting samples of the blast remains for investigations.
“The blast damaged nearby shops. The people here are very scared,” said Surekha Gupta, the local councillor.
The anti-terrorist cell of the Delhi Police reached the spot and are investigating the scene.
