Following a diet according to one’s fundamental body type can apparently help one achieve balance between fundamental body types.

According to Ayurveda, there are three main body types or doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. It is believed that health exists when there is balance between these fundamental body types, and food can go a long way in doing so.

Diets come and diets go, what stays is one’s earnest desire to stay fit and eat healthy. And following a diet according to one’s fundamental body type can apparently help one achieve that. According to Ayurveda, there are three main body types or doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. And it believes that health exists when there is balance between these fundamental body types, and food can go a long way in doing so.

If one follows a diet according to one’s doshas, it can help one stay healthy. And now there is an app to help you identify your dosha. The destination spa Ananda in the Himalayas has launched a food app, Ananda Healthy Cuisine, which is tailored to provide a guideline on one’s fundamental body type or dosha.

By answering a simple questionnaire on lifestyle, habits and responses to stimuli, a guideline to one’s major dosha is determined. Every dosha has food ingredients and cooking styles appropriate for balancing bodily elements as prescribed in ancient Ayurveda. Through the app, once you verify your dosha, you can choose from an array of healthy gourmet dishes ranging from Indian, Oriental and Western cuisines, from breakfast to salads to mains and dessert. The seasonal variations in cuisine as well as recommended styles of cooking is also offered on the app, which is available on iOS and android phones.

Sandeep Biswas, head of culinary at Ananda, says, “Eating the right food that is fine-tuned to your specific body type or dosha determines your physical and mental well-being. With the Ananda Healthy Cuisine app, we hope to touch a larger audience with the holistic approach to eating right for your body type.”
