A 31-year-old Iranian student has accused a Pune-based college professor of seeking sexual favours in return for assistance with her PhD course.

Kothrud police booked Shivaji Borhade – a staffer at the Yashwantrao Mohite College – in this connection on Wednesday. According to the complainant, Borhade made the proposition when she approached him for guideship.

The student, who recorded her conversation with the professor on her mobile phone, had come to Pune to acquire a doctoral degree. “Borhade said he would help me with the PhD degree, provided I did what he asked,” she stated in her complaint.

The Yashwantrao Mohite College is affiliated to the Bharati Vidyapeeth, a deemed university.
