Punjab minister Maluka’s son dies of illness in Canada

Punjab’s senior Akali leader and rural development minister Sikander Singh Maluka’s son, Charanjit Singh, 48, died of illness in Canada on Wednesday.

Punjab rural development and panchayats minister Sikander Singh Maluka’s younger son Charanjit Singh Maluka, 48, died in Toronto following a kidney ailment on Wednesday morning.

Charanjit, who was settled in Canada, is survived by his wife and two children. He was undergoing treatment at a Toronto hospital for the past two weeks.

“He was younger to me and was suffering from kidney problem. He breathed his last following a multi-organ failure on Wednesday. The last rites will be performed in Toronto,” said Charanjit’s brother Gurpreet Singh, who is chairman of the Bathinda zila parishad.

Meanwhile, chief minister Parkash Singh Badal expressed grief over Charanjit’s demise and shared sympathies with the bereaved family.
