Debina Bonerjee

I don’t fast. As a child I used to fast but not anymore due to erratic shoot schedules. I’m a Bengali and Durga Puja is one of the things closest to my heart. During Navratri I eat the regular food but on the last four days during Durga Puja, we feast on lavish four course meal. I ditch my diet and eat Biryani and relish mouth watering Bengali sweets, favourite being Sandesh.

Navratra is all about dance and colours, which I love the most! So it is one festival I always look forward to! They say each day of navratra stands for a particular colour and it means something. I try to coordinate the colour as per the day. Also, on my off days from shoot, I try and cook some special food in regard with the festival for Shoaib and my friends and family, who love eating food made by me. This year too, I will take out time to go enjoy some dandiya and garba nights with friends and family.

Rashami Desai
I am a Gujarati and for me navratra is about dressing up, meeting friends and watching everyone enjoy dandiya besides the regular pooja play. It’s one of the most colourful rich festivities for Gujratis. I usually can’t go all the nine days but I try my best to go three days every year for sure. I fast all nine days since many years. I live on fruits during navratra.

Shivin Narang

I have been following navratra since childhood. I am a Delhiite and there is big celebration. There is pooja at home and Halwa and chole bhature is made. Previously I used to keep fast on all nine days but now given the nature of my profession and also I live alone in Mumbai I do fast at least on first and last day. I do the pooja at home all by myself as a regular tradition. navratra means lot of cleansing and positivity.

Sumit Kaul

I am from Kashmir but born and brought up here in Mumbai. Earlier I used to be a vegetarian during the navratra but last 6 years I’ve turned vegetarian so nothing different on those days. Will be doing a havan on the 8th day with my mom this Sunday. Every year we do havan. During this period we don’t eat onion and garlic.

Dalljiet Kaur

I have been celebrating navratra by travelling to different places. In my society we have this small function on all 9 days and it’s fun to see everyone colourfully dressed. I fast on the 1st and 9th day of navratra. My professional life is hectic and I have to manage my kid also navratra festival gives lot of positive vibes. Weather is pleasant too and it’s a happy feeling to see happy people.

Divyanka Tripathi

I have always been very fond of navratra. I would not shy away to say, garba is my favourite dance form. Back home, I used to go for garba mahotsavs and dance for hours and win prizes. Garba, being a pure form of dancing takes me into a meditative zone. Being a celebrity it gets tough to practice your hobbies in public gatherings yet I don’t leave any opportunity to let my hair down and enjoy whenever possible.
