Each dish of bread, cheese, juice, sausage, farmer's ham, salmon and pancakes with eggs and honey come with tags — a red tag, for instance, means a high energy meal and a blue tag, a low cholesterol one.

The staff is friendly and will customise your breakfast (there is even honey for diabetics), but whatever you do, do not ask about Paris Hilton.

"Paris Hilton is very poor branding," says Nishan Silva, a Sri Lankan, director of operations.

"The Hilton is no longer owned by the Hilton family anyway."

The Hilton breakfast — priced at Rs 600 + taxes — one of the hotel's iconic products, is based on a simple fundamental.

"A Hilton in Shanghai serves exactly the same breakfast in Hilton Delhi. It's the same table-top arrangement. And in all our hotels, kids below 10 years eat free," says Silva.
