Every year, Pragati Maidan plays host to a number of fairs, which are visited by many Delhiites. One of the most popular events at the venue is the annual India International Trade Fair (IITF), which will kick off on November 14 this year. The fair will see pavilions from India and abroad showcasing the best from their countries.

Delhi, too, like every year will have its own pavilion. Titled, Dehleez - The Magic of Gifted Hands, the pavilion will showcase various handicrafts from Old Delhi such as Zardozi, Minakari and Lacquer. “The pavilion will provide visitors a chance to see the very famous craftsmanship of Old Delhi,” says Chetan Sanghi, chief managing director of Delhi State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation, the Delhi government’s agency incharge of the pavilion at IITF.

“The main entrance and the exhibition hall will be modelled on the architecture of Shajahanabad during the Mughal rule,” adds Sanghi. The fair will also see workshops that will demonstrate the making of various products available for sale. Another attraction is a dedication to Delhi’s achievements in the last 100 years.
