Asian Games 2018, highlights: Vinesh Phogat leads medal charge on Day 2 - as it happened

Vinesh Phogat won India’s second gold medal in the Asian Games 2018 and made history by becoming the first-ever woman from India to win a gold in wrestling. However, it was a mixed day for other athletes.

It was a historic day for India as Vinesh Phogat won India’s second gold medal in the Asian Games 2018 and became the first-ever woman from India to win a gold in wrestling. Earlier, Lakshay won silver in Men’s Trap while Deepak Kumar also clinched silver in the Men’s 10m Air Rifle event. India’s medal tally now stands at five at the Asian Games 2018. It was a mixed day for other wrestlers, however, who could not pick up even a single medal. India also missed out on medals in swimming and artistic gymnastics but will have hopes for tennis medals after a good showing from the country’s premier tennis players.
