Private bill on UCC listed for upcoming session

CC has been a mainstay of the BJP’s manifesto since at least 1998. Two BJP-ruled states, Gujarat and Uttarakhand have set up committees to work towards the introduction of UCC. The Supreme Court ruled earlier this month that states had the power to do this.

A similar bill on UCC was introduced in the Rajya Sabha last month (ANI)

Cong leaders not in favour of elections to two key bodies

A significant section of the Congress party has reservations about holding internal elections to seats on the Congress Working Committee (CWC) and the Central Election Committee (CEC), two key decision-making bodies that will be rejigged after the AICC plenary session from February 24 to 26, party insiders said on Sunday

Cong ‘leadership mission’ eyes 50 reserved seats ahead of LS polls

Farmers’ share in agri credit rises in positive sign for sector

In 2003-04, the share of investment credit in total agriculture credit was 37% , which went up to 42 % in 2005-06 during the previous UPA regime. However, it fell to 25% in 2013-14.

According to latest official data from a background note prepared by the ministry of agriculture on “the functioning of the agricultural credit system in the country”, the share of investment credit in total agriculture credit stood at 41% during 2021-22, one percentage point below its peak of 42% achieved in 2006-06. Report seeks wider range of work, more persondays under MGNREGS
