A girl and her brother were allegedly beaten up after he objected to an "obscene" comment by a group of students at the RKDF University on Monday. Both the victims and accused are students of the same institution.

The police registered a case against four students identified as Rohit Singh, Rajeev, Azhar and Rahul. However, no one has been arrested so far.

The incident occurred when the girl Priyanka Sahu, an MBA second-year student, was going to university along with her brother Ronit, a first-year student in the same institution, said police.

The group of youths standing at the institute’s gate allegedly made an “obscene comment” directed at the girl.

When Priyanka objected, a student allegedly slapped her. When her brother intervened and tried to save his sister, the youth thrashed Ronit.

He was later rushed to a nearby hospital by his sister with the help of her classmates.

Police quoted doctors as saying that his condition is stable and likely to be discharged from hospital.

The victims’ brother Ravi alleged that the college management was favouring the accused students and forcing his brother-sister to “settle” the issue mutually.
