In the backdrop of Opposition’s charges that the government did not want to face no- confidence motion in the state assembly, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will lead his Jan Ashirvad Yatra from Ujjain after worshipping the presiding deity at Mahakal Temple.
CM’s Jan Ashirvad Yatra, as he said, is the beginning of his poll campaign for the assembly elections and would cover approximately 8,000 kilometers in 50 days during which he would pass through almost all the 230 assembly constituencies.
The yatra would be taken out in different phases so that the CM is able to come back to Bhopal in between to address the government affairs.
A confident Chouhan said with people’s blessings his party would get more seats this time.
Talking to newspersons, he said like he did ahead of 2008 assembly elections, he was going on his Jan Ashirvad Yatra ahead of 2013 assembly elections
during which he would receive feedback from people too regarding implementation of the government welfare schemes and development programmes.
He said he would tell people about the difference between 2003 and 2013.
Also, he would tell them where did the state stand five years ago and where it stood now in view of his seven resolutions.
He said not only would he try to get feedback from people on the government’s performance he would like to know from people what they liked to see in the next five years.
In reply to a question, he said it was wrong to say that there was huge resentment against the ministers in his cabinet. The fact was, he added, people were happy over governance in the state.
“Nobody believed when I said there would be 24-hour power supply. But today it is a reality,” he said.
He said the Congress looked frustrated. That’s why they hardly raised real issues.
They continued to target him. For they knew that they could achieve success only by targeting him and spoiling his image. This was realisation not only on the part of the local leaders but on the part of their leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi too.
He said the Opposition raised a non- issue of his warehouse in 2008 assembly elections that the warehouse was constructed in violation of rules.
Earlier, they had raised Dumper issue. They knew well that ‘Shivraj is an obstacle in their way’.
When asked about participation of the senior BJP leaders including Narendra Modi in the yatra, he said Sushma Swaraj would be present in Ujjain on Monday.
The other leaders would also take part during the course of the yatra which would culminate in the party workers’ convention in Bhopal on September 25.
