Laxmikant sent to jail in MP recruitment scam
A court on Thursday sent former minister Laxmikant Sharma in judicial remand till July 10, while a new case charging him with corruption in recruitment of food inspectors in 2013 was slapped on him.
A court on Thursday sent former minister Laxmikant Sharma in judicial remand till July 10, while a new case charging him with corruption in recruitment of food inspectors in 2013 was slapped on him.
According to STF sources, Sharma had allegedly recommended five candidates, who belonged to his constituency, Sironj, for selection in the written exam conducted by the professional examination board (PEB) for recruitment of food inspectors.
"We have not got any evidence that Sharma had taken money from these candidates, but we have evidences that he had recommended them," said an STF official, who is investigating the case.
The official said that in the excel-sheet that was recovered from the computer of chief system analyst of PEB Nitin Mahindra, Sharma's name was also found before the name of five candidates, official said.
The five candidates--- Sunil Sahu, Awadesh Bhargava, Rajkumar Dhakad, Mihir Kumar and Naresh Sadar--- had also told the interrogators that Sharma had recommended them.
Sharma's judicial remand in connection with a case of contract teachers' recruitment examination will, however, end on June 6.
It was learnt that out of the 15 candidates Sharma had recommended for the police constable recruitment exam, six had been recruited, including the four who belonged to his home town. In contract teachers' recruitment exam, Sharma had recommended more than 40 candidates to the PEB.
Sharma was first arrested by the STF on June 15 in connection with the contract (grade-II) teachers' recruitment exam. However, he is yet to be arrested in contract (grade-III) teachers' recruitment scam.
