"This force has been formed not only to protect big cats but also other wild animals and it will become functional soon," Principal Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) HS Pabla told PTI on Sunday.

He said that the force, which has its headquarter in Bhopal, will coordinate the already existing six regional anti-poaching squads in MP and gather intelligence in connection with the poachers.

"A senior forest official will coordinate with the police to check poaching," he added.

"We are seeking some funds from the central government for the force," he said.

"Modern arms and equipments are being given to the officials manning the forests," he added.
