Nearly a dozen fire accidents were reported in Bhopal during Diwali celebrations on Thursday. However, no major damage like loss of life or property was reported.

Nearly a dozen fire accidents were reported in Bhopal during Diwali celebrations on Thursday. However, no major damage like loss of life or property was reported.

Assistant fire officer Mohammed Sajid Khan said that a total of 11 fire accidents were reported in the city. "At almost all places, fire broke out because of fire crackers. However, our firefighters managed to douse the fire at all the places before it could spread and cause major damage," he told Hindustan Times.

The first incident was reported from a slum in Bairgaharh. Fire officials of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) said fire broke out when a fire cracker (rocket) fell on the slum. However, fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the fire.

The other incidents were reported from Qazi Camp, Jehangirabad, Ghoda Nakkas, Lalghati, MP Nagar Zone 1, near Rambha Talkies, near Laxmi Talkies, near Apsara Talkies, Shahjehanabad and New Kabad Khana area on Thursday night.

On Friday morning, fire broke out at a shanty in a slum near Ballabha Bhavan at Arera Hills.
