Ritu Kumari case: Airport staff, others record statement

The investigation into the suicide attempt by constable of the CISF Ritu Kumari at Raja Bhoj airport got underway with senior officers of the CISF taking down statement of airport staff and other CISF personnel.

The investigation into the suicide attempt by constable of the central industrial security force (CISF) Ritu Kumari at the Raja Bhoj airport got underway with senior officers of the CISF taking down statement of airport staff and other CISF personnel on Monday.

Senior officers including DIG Sanjay Prakash and deputy commandant Ghulam Rabbani are in Bhopal.

The court of inquiry is expected to wind up by Tuesday. Meanwhile, director general of police (DGP) Nandan Dubey asked inspector general of police (IG) Bhopal Yogesh Choudhary to complete the investigation soon and take action as per the investigation report.

Ritu Kumari had shot herself with her service revolver, a 9 mm pistol, on August 5.

According to sources, Ritu had reported late for her shift on August 4. The next day she was summoned by the deputy commandant to his office. After her meeting with the deputy commandant she went to the armoury, got her service side arm issued and shot herself outside.

She was admitted to a local hospital till Sunday after which she was airlifted to AIIMS, Delhi by an air ambulance organized by the CISF.
