Shweta Bachchan Nanda’s father-in-law and businessman Rajan Nanda passed away on Sunday.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan were among those who paid their last respects to businessman Rajan Nanda at his funeral on Monday afternoon. Rajan Nanda, the father-in-law of Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter Shweta Nanda, passed away on Sunday and the funeral took place on Monday afternoon. Amitabh Bachchan also tweeted on Sunday night that he was leaving Brahmastra shooting in Bulgaria to return to India.

“My relative Mr Rajan Nanda, Nikhil’s Father, Father in Law of Shweta, .. just passed away .. leaving for India ..,” he wrote. While Amitabh was not seen, Abhishek and Aishwarya were at the funeral. Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor and Ridhima Kapoor Sahni were also seen at the funeral.

The 76-year-old businessman was the father of Nikhil Nanda. He was also married to Raj Kapoor’s eldest daughter, Ritu. Chairman and Managing Director of Escorts Limited, he was declared brain dead at a hospital in Gurgaon. Rishi Kapoor’s daughter Ridhima Kapoor Sahni paid tribute to him on Instagram. “You were & will always be a legend! Thank you for all the love always - will miss you so much uncle - until we meet again...”

Rajnish Sharma, Nanda’s associate, also tweeted, “Dear FB and Twitter friends, I need to share a very sad news. Our ESCORTS Group Chairman Shri Rajan Nanda is no more. An era comes to an end. May his blessed soul rest in peace. — feeling sad.”

Kalyani Saha Chawla, who is close to the Nanda family also tweeted, “So very sad to hear the passing away of Rajan Nanda. A great husband , father and grandfather , one of India’s greatest industrialists and a keen listener and advisor. Will miss you, rest in peace...”
