Rani Mukerji lost eight kilos to wear a bikini for Dil Bole Hadippa. Kareena Kapoor whittled down to a size zero to get into a one-piece for Tashan. And now, another Yashraj heroine, Anushka Sharma, is spending long hours in the gym after reportedly being told to cut down to a size zero for the sexy, skimpy wardrobe she has been given for Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, and that includes show-all swimwear.
The actor admits that she has been working out a lot but insists it’s for a better-toned body. She asserts that those who know her well are astounded when stories like this get around since she has always been naturally slim. “I’ve always been active and sporty, with a high metabolism rate. Earlier my visits to the gym were sporadic. Now, I’m more regular. My character in Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl demands a good physique and trendy styling,” says Anushka. She, however, is quick to add that the training is not for weight loss: “I tend to lose weight if I’m not working out, if I lose any more weight I’d be anorexic.”Prod her on whether the ‘salwar-kameez’ Taani of Rab Ne Bana De Jodi will metamorphose into a bikini babe in Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, and Anushka says, "Well, we’ve been shooting on the beaches of Goa. Wait and watch, you’ll have your answer soon." Like Ladies Vs.... wasn’t Badmaash Company, her last Yashraj movie, also a con caper? "It was more about scams than cons. But Ricky Bahl, played by Ranveer (Singh), is a con master, wicked and witty, who successfully gets his way with three girls but then finds his match in me," says Ranveer’s Band Baaja Baraat co-star, adding, "That’s why I need to make a smashing presence." Has she ever been conned in real life? "Never! No guy can ever con me, I can never be a victim!," says Anushka.
