Bombay Talkies earns Rs 5.05 crore in opening weekend

Bombay Talkies, the movie celebrating 100 years of cinema, collected a meagre amount of Rs 1.05 crore on Friday, Rs 1.75 crore on Saturday and Rs 2.25 crore on Sunday, making the total Rs 5.05 crore.

Bombay Talkies, the much celebrated movie by Ashi Dua, that claimed to celebrates 100 years of cinema has earned a total of Rs 5.05 crore in the opening weekend.

With Rs 1.5 crore for each director (Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerjee), the film was made on a total budget of Rs 6 crore. However, the film managed to earn around Rs 5 crore on its opening weekend.

Surprisingly, Bombay Talkies collected Rs 1.05 crore on Friday pitted against Rs 10.01 crore collections of Shootout At Wadala that released on the same day.

On Saturday, the collections plummeted and reached 1.75 crore. Sunday saw a further increase in the earning for Bombay Talkies with the total summing up to Rs 2.25 crore, making the weekend collection a meagre amount of Rs 5.05 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on Twitter, #BombayTalkies collected approx. Rs 5.05 cr nett in its opening weekend. Fri 1.05 cr, Sat 1.75 cr, Sun 2.25 cr."

Earlier in the day, Taran had tweeted, "taran adarsh: #BombayTalkies showed ample growth on Saturday. More than double of Friday at several places. Noon, evening, nite shows were solid."
