Shahid Kapoor is sad and sorrowful in the new song from Batti Gul Meter Chalu.

A new song from upcoming film Batti Gul Meter Chalu called Dekhte Dekhte was unveiled on Tuesday. Featuring Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, the song has a romantic flavour and is all about lovers’ tiff.

In it, we see an unhappy Shahid trying to patch up matters with his girlfriend, played by Shraddha, who is in no mood for it. The song is interspersed with moments from their happier times together; their first date, tender moments, bike rides and first dance. The song clearly shows that they are not on talking terms despite bumping into each other every day. From the look of it, it seems they even travel together (for work perhaps) but there is a stony silence between them.

If you have seen the trailer of the film and if you were to co-relate the two, it is evident that the death of a character played by Divyendu Sharma, is the reason behind it.

The song is sung by Pakistani singer, Atif Aslam and music has been recreated by Rochak Kohli. It may be recalled that the original song is by the legendary singer late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, who is both the lyricist and music composer of the song.

Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, the film features Shahid, Shraddha, Divyendu and Yami Gautam in the lead roles.

In the film, Shahid plays a man who could not care about his town’s troubles with electricity. He pees in the dark, eats in the dark, romances Shraddha in the dark and entertains the whole town in the dark, thereby romanticising a problem that should have been solved long ago.

Life is a song for Shahid until his friend, played Divyendu, decides to open a factory. Soon, the factory is struck by lightning when the electricity company sends a bill of Rs 54 lakhs to his door. Unable to figure out a solution, he dives into the Beas river, killing himself. Heartbroken, Shahid decided to teach the electricity company a lesson and drags them to court.
