Emraan Hashmi starts shooting for Cheat India in Lucknow

The film, starring Emraan Hasmi, will be directed by Soumik Sen and is slated for a January, 2019 release.

Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi has started shooting for his next film Cheat India in Lucknow on Wednesday.

Emraan Hashmi will also be producing the film.

Taking to Twitter, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote,” #CheatIndia begins filming in Lucknow today [25 July 2018]... Stars Emraan Hashmi... Directed by Soumik Sen... Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Tanuj Garg, Atul Kasbekar and Emraan Hashmi... 25 Jan 2019 release... #RepublicDayWeekend...”

The movie is inspired by the crimes in the Indian education system that have created a parallel ecosystem infested with education mafia.

Earlier, in a press statement, Hashmi said, “The script and title of Cheat India are supremely powerful. This is among the most engaging and riveting stories I’ve read in a while and I am thrilled to be essaying what I believe will be a landmark role in my filmography. I am also looking forward to working with some formidable partners - Soumik, an amazing storyteller.”

Helmed by Gulaab Gang director Soumik Sen, this is the second flick from Hashmi’s production house.

The movie will hit the theatres worldwide on January 25, 2019.
