South actor Prakash Raj says he couldn’t have asked for a better Diwali gift, referring to the news of him being cast as the villain for the Dabangg sequel to be directed by Arbaaz Khan. Excited about his second innings with box office’s king Midas, Salman Khan, he says, “He’s a darling. He isn’t afraid of anyone. He let me be myself when we were shooting for Wanted (2009). I’ll be playing the villain opposite him and am looking forward to a crackling on-screen rivalry with him.”
After getting a whiff of Prakash Raj being cast as the antagonist, Dabangg’s ‘Bhaiyyaji’, Sonu reportedly got cold feet and refused to share any screen space with him. Apparently he was earlier supposed to continue as the baddie. And now, he didn’t want to play second fiddle to a powerful character actor like the National Award winner.
Ask Prakash if the reports of Sonu’s exit, refusing to play his sidekick, upset his celebrations, and he says, “I don’t care about other people’s insecurities. Arbaaz wanted me, so I’m here. If someone has a problem with that, they need to deal with it. What can I say?”
Dabangg 2 also stars Sonakshi Sinha and Vinod Khanna in pivotal roles. The actor, who was in town on Diwali for the script narration, is slated to fly back to complete the last leg of his bi-lingual directorial venture, tentatively titled Dhoni, based on a child’s aspiration to become a famous cricketer like the Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Prakash is also completing a Telugu film next month.
